The start line
The race where Usain Bolt broke the world record. I finished fourth.
Getting to that start line took years. I went on to run at Florida State University and then raced professionally for nine years with Nike and Mizuno.
I represented Zimbabwe at two Olympic Games, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, and I carried our flag in Beijing.
Without a lane to run in
When I didn't qualify for London 2012, I had to work out who I was.
I went into finance and spent the next chapter at Deloitte, AllianceBernstein and Aon. The lessons from the track carried over more than I expected.
Where is Brian today?
I run Dash Stone Growth Partners, where I turn messy finances into clear decisions for founders and nonprofit leaders.
Sport is still where my heart is
When my own career ended, I had to work that out for myself. That's why I co-founded Athletepreneur, an agency that represents some of the best athletes in the world, including Makanaka Charamba, Kayinsola Ajayi and Ja'Kobe Tharp, each ranked in the world's top 10 in their event. We help them make the most of their careers while they're competing and build something that lasts once they stop.
It's also why I co-founded Athlete+, a fintech platform that lets fans support college athletes through their everyday spending, with part of every purchase going to their school's NIL fund.
I serve on the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee's Technical and Development Commission, where we're working to send a bigger, stronger Team Zimbabwe to LA 2028. All of it runs on one idea I call Flourishing Under No Pressure: do the work so that when your moment comes, you can perform at your best.
